If your breasts have lost the “perkiness” of youth, you may want to consider a breast lift. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Mary Ann Contogiannis, performs breast lift surgery for women in Greensboro NC, including Burlington, High Point, Winston-Salem, and the surrounding communities.
What is Involved in a Breast Lift?
The medical term for breast lift surgery is mastopexy, and the purpose of the procedure is to reposition the breast by lifting it up. During the procedure, excess skin is usually removed and the tissues around the breasts are tightened, giving better support to the newly uplifted breast.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost in Greensboro, NC?
Breast lift cost will fluctuate between clients, in large part due to whether or not implants are used to achieve the desired result.
Costs for your specific case will be discussed during your initial consultation and you’ll be given an accurate amount at that time. Many cosmetic surgeries are not covered by insurance, so it’s best to contact your provider to find out about their policy on breast augmentation.
At The Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery & Wellness, we try to keep our procedures accessible and affordable for all of our clients. To that end, we’re pleased to offer financing as an option, through Alphaeon® or CareCredit®.
How Does a Breast Lift Work?
Breast lifts are sometimes performed at the same time breast augmentation surgery is done, but you can also have a breast lift done on its own. You’ll be asleep under general anesthesia for the procedure.
There are three different surgical incisions available for a breast lift. The decision as to which one should be used is left up to Dr. Contogiannis, who applies her vast knowledge and experience with this type of surgery. With her expertise and use of new techniques, she’s often able to significantly shorten or even eliminate any scarring.
After the incision is made, the breast tissue is lifted and reshaped. The nipple and areola are also repositioned, moving them to a higher, naturally younger-looking position. Excess skin that has lost its elasticity due to sagging is removed and the incisions are closed.
What are the Benefits of a Breast Lift?
There are numerous benefits to breast lift surgery, and most women are delighted with the results of their newly positioned, reshaped breasts. Some common benefits include:
- Drastic boost in self-confidence
- Improved self-image
- Increased breast volume, often increasing the cup size
- Improved symmetry and contours of the breasts
- Excess skin caused by sagging breasts is removed
Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
If you’re a healthy adult woman dissatisfied with the way your breasts are “heading south,” or if you describe your breasts as droopy or sagging, you’re likely a good candidate for what breast lift surgery offers. Ideal candidates maintain a stable, healthy weight and are non-smokers.
What Can I Expect During Recovery From a Breast Lift?
After your breast lift, you’ll wear gauze and a surgical bra for support. As the healing continues, you’ll be able to change to a softer bra. Bruising and swelling should dissipate in a few days and as it subsides, you’ll be able to see your new shape emerging. You may experience numbness in the nipples for several weeks.
Exercise should be avoided for about a month and while you will have scars, they’ll fade over time. You’ll be given post-procedure instructions and you should follow them closely in order for the best results and the speediest recovery.
