BodyTite™

BodyTite is a state-of-the-art technology that utilizes a combination of radio frequency (RF) energy and gentle suction to remove fat and improve body contours. The RF energy stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, tightens the skin, and allows for the removal of excess fat cells, creating a smoother, shapelier silhouette.

BodyTite is a minimally invasive procedure, and among its biggest advantages is that it requires no general anesthesia. The most effective BodyTite results are usually achieved around the knees, thighs, breasts, arms, and “love handles.” For patients interested in treatment targeted around the face and neck, FaceTite employs the same combination of RF energy and suction to provide dramatic facial rejuvenation and skin tightening.

Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Mary Ann Contogiannis, MD, is excited to offer BodyTite as an advanced body sculpting option for our patients. Who Is a Good BodyTite Candidate?

Good BodyTite candidates are typically healthy adults within about 30% of their target weight who have a moderate amount of skin laxity. Patients should also have reasonable expectations regarding what the procedure can accomplish. It is important to note that BodyTite is not a weight loss treatment. While you may lose a bit of weight, that’s not the primary goal of the procedure, and there is a limit to how much fat can be safely removed.

BodyTite is generally not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or anyone with autoimmune issues, active or chronic infections, or skin diseases.

Non-Surgical Skin Tightening with BodyTite

For many patients, BodyTite offers a non-surgical alternative to many popular skin tightening procedures, such as brachioplasty (arm lift surgery) and thighplasty. Not only can this minimally invasive technique help reduce excess fat in the treated areas, but BodyTite also firms and tightens loose skin — often providing comprehensive and circumferential improvements that were previously only possible with surgery. Although the results of BodyTite cannot exactly replicate the high quality of results achieved with an arm lift and thigh lift, this in-office treatment can be an excellent option for individuals seeking non-surgical methods of resculpting their body contours. Compared to their surgical counterparts, BodyTite for the upper arms and/or inner thighs can:

  • Deliver RF energy beneath the skin using tiny incisions, rather than the lengthy incision required with arm lift surgery
  • Tighten mild skin laxity and reduce excess fat without general anesthesia
  • Stimulate collagen production for improved results over time

While BodyTite cannot enhance severely hanging skin or “bat wings,” treatment can be beneficial for those who have mild skin laxity, who do not mind their results unfolding gradually, or who are looking for aesthetic rejuvenation without substantial downtime.

What Are the Benefits of BodyTite

The fat-reduction benefits of BodyTite can be compared to the benefits of liposuction. However, BodyTite also has additional skin tightening capabilities that traditional liposuction does not. Most patients are delighted with their slimming and tightening results following their BodyTite treatment. Some common benefits include:

  • Enhanced body contours
  • Improved self-confidence and self-image
  • Smoother, tighter skin appearance
  • Minimally invasive treatment means less bruising and soreness
  • Little to no downtime needed for recovery

How Does the BodyTite Procedure Work?

A local anesthetic will be administered to the designated treatment area(s). A small cannula—a thin, hollow tube—is then inserted into a tiny incision while the specialized BodyTite device sends RF energy into the tissues. The skin and tissues contract and the fat cells are liquefied, allowing them to be suctioned out through the thin cannula. As an additional benefit, the RF frequencies help stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin, helping to further accentuate your body contouring results.

All of this is accomplished while maintaining a safe temperature on the skin’s surface and without harming any adjacent tissue.

BodyTite IgniteRF

At our fully equipped Greensboro practice, Dr. Contogiannis and our team also offer treatment with the advanced BodyTite IgniteRF system — a powerful means of body sculpting designed to reshape larger areas of the body. With RFAL (RadioFrequency-Assisted Lipolysis) technology, BodyTite IgniteRF can achieve dynamic skin tightening and promote the contraction of loose skin in more expansive treatment areas, such as the upper arm contour. The procedure delivers controlled radiofrequency energy both above and below the skin, simultaneously melting targeted fat cells and stimulating natural collagen production. This dual-action approach not only reduces localized fat but also contracts surrounding tissue, reshaping “bat wings” and resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking contours.

Patients often see progressive improvement over the next several months as the skin continues to tighten and remodel, making BodyTite IgniteRF an ideal solution for individuals seeking a noticeably lifted and sculpted appearance without the scars, extended recovery, or invasiveness of surgery.

What Is Recovery Like After BodyTite Treatment?

Recovery time after a BodyTite treatment is generally fairly short. Most patients are able to resume their regular activities after only a few days. There may be some swelling or bruising, and a compression garment may help during the first couple of days after the procedure.

The final outcomes of treatment may take about six months to fully appear, but the results can last for years as long as you maintain your body at a steady, healthy weight.

Dr. Contogiannis will give you personalized post-procedure instructions and you should follow them closely in order to achieve the best results and the speediest recovery.

How Much Does BodyTite Cost?

Because BodyTite can be used on multiple areas around the body, cost varies between patients depending on how many areas are treated and how large those areas are.

Dr. Contogiannis will thoroughly discuss your specific case during your initial consultation and we can give you a personalized cost assessment at that time. Many cosmetic surgeries are not covered by insurance, so it’s best to contact your provider to find out which procedures they will or will not provide coverage for.

At The Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery & Wellness, we try to keep our procedures affordable for all of our clients. We’re pleased to offer financing as an option for your BodyTite procedure through Alphaeon® or CareCredit®.

Are There Any BodyTite Alternatives?

While BodyTite is a minimally invasive treatment that combines fat reduction with skin tightening using radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL), it is most effective for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity and small fat deposits. For individuals who have significant skin excess, pronounced sagging, or dramatic weight loss, the following surgical procedures usually remain the most definitive option for contouring and tightening:

  • Arm Lift: Unlike BodyTite, which tightens mild skin laxity and melts small amounts of fat, an arm lift removes excess skin and tissue completely, providing dramatic reshaping of the upper arms.
  • Thigh Lift: Surgical thigh lift procedures excise large amounts of redundant skin and reshape the contours of the inner thighs, not only slimming the treated regions but also alleviating chafing and irritation caused by hanging skin. These results cannot be achieved with minimally invasive RF treatments in severe cases.
  • Tummy Tuck: BodyTite can tighten mild abdominal laxity and reduce fat to some extent, but it cannot repair muscle separation or remove large aprons of skin like a surgical tummy tuck.
  • Breast Lift: BodyTite can improve mild breast skin laxity, but it cannot reposition the nipple or lift significant drooping. Mastopexy, or breast lift surgery, can reshape and rejuvenate the breasts while making the nipples more proportional and centrally located.
  • Body Lift: A lower body lift is a personalized combination surgical plan that offers comprehensive skin removal that BodyTite alone cannot achieve on such a large scale. If you have experienced massive weight loss, a body lift may be able to more effectively address stretched, hanging skin when compared to in-office treatments like BodyTite.
