Chemical Peels

What is Involved in a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are a rejuvenating facial treatment that uses a topical solution to exfoliate the skin. This controlled exfoliation can remove damaged, discolored, or aged skin, diminishing a range of cosmetic concerns.

Each chemical peel treatment is fully customizable, meaning we’ll be able to adjust the strength of your chemical peel treatment based on your treatment goals and your skin type. This is possible thanks to the variety of chemical peel treatments we carry, which include PCA peels and TCA peels ranging from 10% to 35%. With these chemical peels, patients can address the following concerns:

  • Acne and acne scars
  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Enlarged pores
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • And more

Am I A Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

If you are looking for a way to rejuvenate the skin while enjoying a treatment that is similar to a facial, you may be a good candidate for chemical peels. At Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery & Wellness, we are proud to offer financing for chemical peel treatments to make them a more affordable option for those who desire it.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

The first step of your chemical peel treatment is cleansing the skin. Then, we will apply a chemical peel solution, covering the surface of the face. This solution will remain on the skin for a designated period of time, which will depend on the type of chemical peel you are receiving. You may feel a tingling or warming sensation during this time. Once the allotted time has passed, we will remove the chemical peel solution and the treatment will be complete.

What Can I Expect During Recovery Following a Chemical Peel Treatment?

After a chemical peel, your skin may be red or sensitive, not unlike the symptoms of a sunburn. You may need to adjust your facial skin care routine for a few days to ensure you are not using any products that will irritate the sensitive skin. Within a week of treatment, your skin will start to peel. This is a natural step in the healing process, and is necessary for results to develop. Most patients are fully recovered from their chemical peel about two weeks after treatment.

What Results Can I Expect from My Chemical Peel Treatment?

The results from chemical peels will become visible a week or two after treatment, once the skin has healed. For moderate to severe cosmetic concerns, we may recommend a series of chemical peel treatments for optimal results. During your consultation, Dr. Contogiannis will develop a personalized treatment plan for you depending on your treatment goals. At this point, she will be able to tell you what you can expect from your chemical peel treatments.
